Alexis J. Smith

Alexis Smith, originally from Dothan, Alabama, is a 3rd-year doctoral student in the Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences department (BSHES) at the Rollins School of Public Health. Before coming to Emory, she worked at the Equal Justice Initiative where she provided project and research support for EJI’s education and racial justice initiatives. Her current research interests include 1) understanding how historical and structural determinants of health inequities shape the health outcomes of Black women to 2) informing community-engaged and multilevel interventions that seek to reduce the burden of disease and repair harm wrought by unjust systems and policies.
